Labor, Progressives Take MLK March to the SC Statehouse

The Annual King Day at the Dome was well attended in Columbia.  

Participating in the preceding march down Main Street were members of the SC AFL, the Columbia CLC, the SC Peace Resource Center and SC Progressive Network.

The program featured a long list of speakers on progressive issues, including SC Legal Justice Center Dir. Sue Berkowitz, who spoke against predatory lending, and SC ACLU Dir. Shaundra Young Scott who addressed the need for voting rights.

SC Christian Action Council leacer Rev. Brenda Kneece called for acceptence and unity among the state's diversified religious groups.

Rev. Dr. Marion Wilson, Retired Presiding Elder of Columbia's AME Zion Church, warned about the problems steming from President Trump's leadership, saying that those concerned about the public good must stick together and never give up.
