Charles Brave, Jr.

For many year, President Brave was on the Executive Board of the AFL-CIO of South Carolina. In 2014, he became Vice-President of the SC AFL-CIO and is a member of the South Carolina Work Force Development Board. President Brave was appointed by former Governor Hodges.
He is a member of the International Longshoremen's Association Local 1422. He also was a member in Georgetown, South Carolina with ILA Local 1751 from 1968 to 1995 wher he served as Vice-President until both locals merged. President Brave worked as a longshoreman part-time in high school. Upon graduating from high school in 1973, he served his country for three years in the US Army. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to working with the ILA in 1976. President Brave has the same job today.
President Brave has an Associate Degree from Horry-Georgetown Technical College. He is an active member of several labor organizations and statistics groups with the labor movement with includes CBTU, APRI, CAFE, SC Progressive Network, and the National Martin Luther King Committee.
President Brave is a life-long member of the NAACP. He is a Brother of the Craft, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons, Maceo Lodge 50, Georgetown, SC.
In 2016, he was a SC Delegate for District One at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
President Brave is an ordained Deacon at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Georgetown, SC. He has served as Deacon Coordinator for the pass 13 years. His favorite scripture is II Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight).
President Brave resides in Mount Pleasant, SC with his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline. They have one son Charles (Trey), a daughter-in-law, Katie, and two wonderful granddaughters, Taylor and Reagan who resides in Lexington, SC.
